All four American entrants in the women’s ski halfpipe will be in the running for a medal Thursday.
The U.S. team managed to post three of the five highest scores in the qualification round, led by Brita Sigourney, whose score of 87.00 was the second-best mark in qualifying. Maddie Bowman had the third-highest score, an 85.60, and Angeli Vanlaanen was fifth with an 83.00.
The top 12 of the event’s 23 entrants advanced to the finals. American skier Annalisa Drew was 11th with a score of 72.40.
The finals are scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. in Sochi (12:30 p.m. in Washington). The U.S. captured gold in the men’s version of the event last week when David Wise bested the field.
