Washington Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos says he is going on the 15-day disabled list with a right hamstring issue. Ramos is hopeful of returning by the end of the month.

Tuesday night, Ramos left the Nationals’ 2-1 victory with what Manager Matt Williams called “tightness” in the hamstring. He felt a twinge in his hamstring as he neared second base while legging out a double. He slid into second base, and when he stood up Williams and head athletic trainer Lee Kuntz came to check on him, then escorted him off the field.

Last season, Ramos spent two stints on the disabled list, including on that lasted roughly two months, with left hamstring strains. Ramos insisted Tuesday night the injury he suffered now felt far less serious than either of those pulls.
