There was some speculation among San Francisco media types that the Giants believed the Nationals may have thrown at Michael Morse at purpose last night in the seventh inning. From here, it doesn’t add up. First, Aaron Barrett’s fastball command is not his best attribute. Second, Morse was hit with an 0-2 pitch after he had fouled off an initial 0-2 pitch. Third, the book is to bust Morse with fastballs inside — Wilson Ramos had set up on the inside corner, and from his reaction Barrett’s pitch just seemed to get away from him. Fourth, and most important, Morse is adored in the Nationals’ clubhouse, and they have no reason to hit him.

For all those reasons, I wouldn’t expect any kind of tit-for-tat. But the issue was raised last night. Anyway, Doug Fister-Madison Bumgarner is good stuff. Talk about the game right here.
