TV highlights: A Beatles tribute and ‘The Walking Dead’ returns


The Winter Olympics (NBC at 8 p.m. Saturday) continue with team figure skating, ice-dancing short programs, women’s freestyle skiing (moguls final) and men’s snowboarding (slopestyle final). As for whom to root for: snowboarders Chas Guldemond from the United States and Canada’s Mark McMorris are favorites.


Gillian’s prone to bipolar mood swings and bouts of murderous rage but she’s just met the man of her dreams on “The Girl He Met Online” (Lifetime at 8), so what could possibly go wrong? The answer is a lot.




Sunday talk shows: “Platts Energy Week” (WUSA at 8 a.m.) interviews Canadian Ambassador to the U.S. Gary Doer; “BioCentury This Week” (WUSA at 8:30) features the Food and Drug Administration’s Robert Temple; “Fox News Sunday” (Fox at 9) hosts Sens. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) and Benjamin L. Cardin (D-Md.); “White House Chronicle” (WETA at 9) has Frances Sellers of The Washington Post and Jim Bohannon of “The Jim Bohannon Show”; “State of the Union” (CNN at 9) features former U.S. secretary of homeland security Janet Napolitano.


“Government Matters” (WJLA at 9:30) hosts the Online Trust Alliance’s Craig Spiezle; “This Week” (ABC at 10) features Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.); “Newsmakers” (C-SPAN at 10) talks to Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.); “This Is America & the World” (WETA at 10 and WHUT at 6 p.m.) talks to The Washington Post’s David Finkel; “Meet the Press” (NBC at 10:30) has U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul; “Face the Nation” (CBS at 10:30) talks to Rep. Peter T. King (R-N.Y.) and Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.).


Sunday night, NBC’s Winter Olympics (7 p.m.) feature awards for the figure skating team event, women’s and ice-dancing free skates, finals for men’s Alpine skiing, women’s snowboarding and men’s ski jumping.


The all-star concert special “The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to the Beatles” (CBS at 8) will commemorate 50 years (exactly) since the Fab Four appeared on Ed Sullivan’s show. Features performances from Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, the Eurythmics, Foo Fighters, Maroon 5, John Mayer, Lady Antebellum and more.


RETURNING SHOW: “The Walking Dead” (AMC at 9) is back for the second half of its fourth season. After that fiery prison showdown, Rick and his son Carl look for a safe place to recover. “Talking Dead” (10) follows, with its usual hour-long rehash of what just happened and speculation about what’s next.
