Teen snowboarder Arielle Gold will miss the Olympic halfpipe competition because of an injury suffered during a training run Wednesday.

Gold, 17, came to Sochi as a favorite for the medals podium, but her qualifications heat started without her at Rosa Khutor Extreme Park. She crashed in a run prior to the competition and was immediately treated by medical personnel. Her exact injury wasn’t immediately known. A photographer for USA Today reportedly spotted Gold favoring her right wrist after the spill.

Her 20-year brother Taylor Gold competed in the men’s halfpipe Tuesday, failing to advance out of the semifinal round.
