Oscars TV: Where to watch the show, the pre-shows, the fashion

It’s Academy Awards weekend, so there are no shortage of reminders that the big award ceremony is on Sunday. In addition to the actual show itself, here’s a complete guide to programming leading up to the Oscarcast — just in case you need some movie fun facts to share over the weekend.

But first, the actual show:

The 85th Annual Academy Awards airs Sunday, Feb. 24, at 8:30 p.m. on ABC.

At 5:30 p.m., E! kicks off “Live from the Red Carpet: The 2013 Academy Awards,” as Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic interview celebs.

At 6 p.m., Chris Harrison anchors coverage on “2013 Academy Awards Red Carpet” on TV Guide Network

At 7 p.m., ABC begins its own preshow with “The Oscars Red Carpet Live!” hosted by Entertainment Weekly’s Jess Cagle, actress Kristin Chenoweth, singer Kelly Rowland and “Good Morning America’s” Lara Spencer. This runs through 8:30 p.m., when the show officially begins.

FRIDAY

“Arch and Cynne’s ABC7 Red Carpet Special” (WJLA at 8 p.m.): Washington’s local ABC station bumps new episodes of “Last Man Standing” and “Malibu Country” for a preview of the show, as film critic Arch Campbell shares his predictions for who’s going to take home the trophy in all the big categories.

SATURDAY

“Vanity Fair’s Hollywood” (CBS at 10): This hour-long special looks at the Oscar’s most famous after-party, as it marks its 20th anniversary — and actors including Tom Hanks, Ben Affleck and Halle Berry tell “you had to be there” stories.

“Argo: Inside Story” (Discovery at 10, airs again Sunday at noon): In the wake of “Argo’s” many nominations and best picture frontrunner status, Discovery airs this 2002 documentary about the real story behind the events depicted in the movie. Updated from its original airing, Bryan Cranston narrates the one-hour special, which looks at the attempt to rescuesix Americans during the 1978 Iran hostage crisis.

SUNDAY

“CBS Sunday Morning” (CBS at 9 a.m.): One of the best parts of award shows? Gawking at all the jewels and wondering what would happen if someone went rogue on the red carpet and ran off with millions in diamonds. Anyway, reporter Serena Altschul goes to famous gem dealer Harry Winston to check out the behind-the-scenes on a very busy weekend. (Fun fact alert: The Harry Winston jewelry trend started in 1944, when loaned earrings to Jennifer Jones to wear to the Academy Awards, who ended up winning best actress that year for “The Song of Bernadette.”)

“Jimmy Kimmel Live: After the Oscars” (ABC around midnight): The late-night host tries to outdo himself every year in this annual special. This time, Jamie Foxx, Channing Tatum and “Good Morning America” host Robin Roberts serve as guests. Plus, look for a sequel to last year’s parody trailer “Movie: The Movie,” with a part two titled “Movie: The Movie: Twovie,” starring Bradley Cooper, Jessica Chastain, Jude Law, Salma Hayek, John Krasinski, Samuel L. Jackson and more.

MONDAY

“Live with Kelly and Michael” (ABC at 9 a.m.): Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan trade New York City for Hollywood, as they broadcast their morning chat show from the Academy Awards stage, and recap the show.

“2013 Academy Awards Fashion Wrap” (TV Guide at 8 p.m.): The network enlists Ali Landry, Tabatha Coffey, Nick Verreos and Kyle Richards to critique the best and worst of fashion from Sunday night.

“Fashion Police: The 2013 Academy Awards” (E! at 8:30 p.m.): Stretching to an hour and a half, the regular “FP” crew — Joan Rivers, Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne and George Kotsiopoulos — gushes over the looks they loved, and are pretty brutal about the ones they didn’t. Special guest judges Sarah Silverman and Nina Garcia join in the fun.
