The fourth annual “Critics’ Choice Television Awards” ( CW at 8 p.m.) honors the year’s most excellent work on the small screen with “The Big Bang Theory’s” Jim Parsons will presenting the crowning achievement of the night, the Louis XIII Genius Award, to Ryan Murphy for his work on “American Horror Story,” “Glee,” and “The Normal Heart” during the live ceremony. Plus, several new shows (including “Fargo,” “Penny Dreadful” and “The Leftovers”) get their first shots at statuettes before awards season officially kicks off in the fall. Comedian Cedric the Entertainer hosts.
The final seven contestants compete to make entrees with the highest dollar values from ingredients purchased on a small budget on “Hell’s Kitchen” (Fox at 8).
RETURNING SHOW: A new, infuriating rookie is welcomed into 15 Division and Oliver reluctantly receives a promotion on the two-hour “Rookie Blue” (ABC at 9) Season 5 opener.
SERIES PREMIERE: The drama “Dominion” (SyFy at 9) centers around the archangel Michael’s decision to rebel against the archangel Gabriel’s attempt to rule Earth and what’s left of mankind.
“The Sixties” (CNN at 9) looks back at the war in Vietnam by analyzing how it brought social and political polarization back home and television’s effect on the public’s opinion. Author Tim O’Brien, historian Fredrik Logevall, veteran Karl Marlantes and more discuss this complex time in American history.
RETURNING SHOW: “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” (TLC at 9) returns mid-second season with June coping with an empty nest after both Anna and Kaitlyn move out.
RETURNING SHOW: “Rectify” (Sundance at 9) opens Season 2 with the family reeling after Daniel’s beating and Ted Jr. hiding a shameful secret from his wife.
“Kate Plus 8: Sextuplets Turn 10” (TLC at 10) checks in on the infamous family helmed by Kate Gosselin on the occasion of the sextuplets 10th birthdays. (Part 1 of 2. Concludes June 26.)
Comedian George Lopez swings by “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” (NBC at 11:35), with music from rapper Pitbull.
Actor Paul Rudd and comedian Jeff Altman are on the “Late Show With David Letterman” (CBS at 11:35), along with a musical performance from John Doe.
Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs and actor Eric Bana come to “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (ABC at 11:35), with musical guests Linkin Park.
